Natural Gas Liquefaction Project in Damietta – SEGAS

Capacity: 7.56 BCMA
The first LNG facility in Damietta, which has become the largest ever LNG facility in operation, was put on-stream in December 2004; achieving a record time in realization within 52 months from inception, first cargo departed from Damietta on January 20, 2005 to reach the regasification facility at Huelva, Spain . Main markets are Spain and United States. The Damietta LNG facility has annual throughput 7.56 BCM/Y of LNG.
Splited between Union Fenosa and EGAS as shown below:
4.4 BCMA (60%) – Union Fenosa.
3.16 BCMA (40%) – EGAS.
Cost: 1300 million US Dollars including financing charges.
This facility owned and operated by SEGAS, 80% owned by Union Fenosa GAS, 10% by EGAS and 10% by EGPC. EGAS signed agreements with BP and BG to process gas from their operated fields through EGAS capacity in the LNG Facility and to lift produced LNG.
Main Contractor : The consortium comprising Kellog Brown and Root Inc., Petrojet is participating in the construction activities of the project.
Investment cost: 1300 million US Dollars including financing charges.
