Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources holds a series of bilateral meetings with his Cypriot counterpart and leaders of international companies on the sidelines of the East Mediterranean Energy Conference

As part of Egypt’s active participation in the East Mediterranean Energy Conference (EMC 2025), hosted by the Cypriot city of Limassol, Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held a series of bilateral meetings that focused on ways to strengthen regional cooperation in the field of natural gas.

The minister initial meeting was with Mr. George Papanastasiou, the Cypriot Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Both Ministers asserted the significance of Egyptian-Cypriot collaboration in bolstering regional energy security and strengthening integration between both countries to accelerate gas production from the Cypriot fields and link them to the Egyptian infrastructure.

The meeting also reviewed the implementation progress of the project to transport Cypriot gas to Egyptian facilities and the new steps being taken along the execution path, reflecting the fruitful outcome of joint efforts since the signing of the Host Government Agreement in Cairo last February.

In the same context, Eng. Karim Badawi also held a series of meetings with senior officials from Eni, TotalEnergies, and Chevron to discuss opportunities to strengthen existing cooperation, review their activities in Egypt and future plans for exploration, drilling, and production, as well as ongoing collaboration in projects to develop Cypriot gas fields through Egypt’s infrastructure.
