The main Objective for natural gas operation activities is setting strategic plans for handling natural gas operations, aiming at securing gas for local market, exploring viable opportunities for maximizing the natural gas added value, applying the optimum standards for energy efficiency and utilizing the existing infrastructure (Pipeline/LNG facilities) to support Egypt vision to be a regional gas hub.

This objective is achieved through a number of activities/responsibilities:

• Maintaining smooth operation of the natural gas national grid and balancing any supply demand fluctuation.
• Ensuring compliance with Gas Regulatory Authority’s requirements, availing third party access to the Gas Transmission System, adhering to the gas network code and licensing framework.  
•  Oversee the preparation of all market plans /strategies and gas pricing studies related to liberalizing the gas market, in coordination with Mop and the Gas Market Regulatory Authority.
•  Ensure optimal utilization of gas networks, liquefaction facilities, and regasification infrastructure to support Egypt’s evolution into a regional gas trading hub.
• Ensuring long term security of supply for the local market in line with projected demand growth via optimizing local production and, when necessary, supplementing it via pipeline or LNG import.
• Review and approve all contracts signed with industrial consumers, in coordination with legal and commercial departments, ensuring the alignment with current and future supply demand plans. 
• Exploiting any attractive export opportunity, without compromising the availability of sufficient gas supply to the local market.
• Ensuring the adoption of advanced energy efficiency measures and the maximization of the added value of Egypt’s natural gas resources.

Process Safety & Asset Integrity

 In alignment with the MoP’s strategies, EGAS continues to enhance Process Safety Management (PSM) and Asset Integrity systems within the gas sector. Through continuous monitoring, development, strengthening of operational readiness, and the application of Asset Integrity systems, EGAS ensures compliance with the highest international standards for safety and operational reliability.
