Eng. Sayed Selim, Chairman and Managing Director of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), conducted a field visit to Wastani Petroleum Company’s fields to review current production rates, drilling and exploration programs, and field development plans.

The visit focused on identifying opportunities to increase production from existing fields, maximize the potential of producing wells and available reserves, and accelerate the development of new discoveries, supporting natural gas supplies to the domestic market.

Petroleum Sector leaders emphasized the importance of intensified coordination and accelerating drilling and exploration activities. Dana Gas also reaffirmed its commitment to the Egyptian market and its support for increasing investments in exploration, development and production, while exploring new investment opportunities in concession areas.

The visit reflects the Petroleum Sector’s continued efforts to accelerate production, maximize the value of existing assets, and unlock Egypt’s promising natural gas resources in the Nile Delta.

As part of ongoing field follow-up of production and exploration activities and efforts to strengthen direct communication with work and production sites, Eng. Sayed Selim, Chairman and Managing Director of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), accompanied by Eng. Ishaq Saad Attia, Head of the Central Administration for Production at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources; Eng. Abdel Nasser Khafagy, Executive Vice President for Production and Field Development; Major General Khaled Eid, Assistant Chairman for Security; Eng. Ahmed Hamed, Assistant Chairman for Occupational Health and Safety; and a number of EGAS Vice Presidents, conducted a field visit to the fields of Wasatani Petroleum Company to review production rates and follow up on drilling and exploration programs and field development plans.

The delegation was received by Dr. Sally Salah El Din, Chairwoman and Managing Director of Wasatani Petroleum Company; Eng. Mohamed Koura, General Manager and Managing Director and representative of the foreign partner, Dana Gas; along with a number of the company’s senior executives and field teams.

The visit comes within the framework of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ and EGAS’ efforts to intensify field follow-up of production projects, accelerate the implementation of drilling and exploration programs, and maximize the utilization of existing infrastructure and assets, supporting the State’s efforts to increase natural gas production and enhance supplies to the domestic market.

During the visit, Wasatani Petroleum Company’s management presented an overview of current production operations, future work plans, and drilling and exploration programs. Discussions also focused on opportunities to increase production from existing fields by maximizing the utilization of producing wells, reassessing formations and reservoirs, and carrying out drilling and development activities based on the latest technical, geological, and geophysical studies.

The company’s plans for the coming period were also reviewed in light of the promising opportunities across its concession areas and the positive results achieved through recent drilling programs. Particular emphasis was placed on accelerating the development of new discoveries and bringing them onstream, converting reserves into actual production in the shortest possible timeframe.

During the visit, Petroleum Sector leaders emphasized the importance of continued coordination and integration among all parties involved in the operations, as well as working as one team to overcome any challenges that may hinder the implementation of production, drilling, and exploration programs, particularly given the importance of natural gas production in meeting the needs of the domestic market.

They also commended the efforts of Wasatani Petroleum Company’s workforce and their commitment to maintaining production rates and enhancing operational efficiency, stressing that human capital is one of the key pillars of success and sustainable production.

For its part, Dana Gas reaffirmed its continued commitment to the Egyptian market and its support for plans to develop natural gas resources and increase investments in exploration, appraisal, and production. The company also highlighted its interest in evaluating available investment opportunities within its concession areas offered under the latest bid round, further strengthening its strategic partnership with the Egyptian Petroleum Sector.

The visit represents a practical model of integration among the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, EGAS, Wasatani Petroleum Company, and its foreign partners, contributing to faster decision-making, effective management of challenges at operational sites, achievement of production growth targets, and maximization of the promising oil and gas opportunities in the Nile Delta.
