EGAS Chairman Discusses Enhancing Cooperation with Valvitalia Group in Valve Technology and Safety Standards
Within the framework of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ strategy to strengthen partnerships with leading international companies and facilitate the transfer of advanced technologies to Egypt’s gas sector, Eng. Sayed Selim, Chairman of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), held a meeting with Mr. Luca Rugger, Commercial Director at Valvitalia Group.
The meeting was attended by Eng. Mohamed Khodeir, Vice President for Planning and Gas Projects; Mr. Youssef Kamel, Representative of Valvitalia Egypt; Mr. Ashraf Habib, Executive Managing Director for Economic Affairs and Internal & External Trade; Eng. Mohamed Fathy, Chairman and Managing Director of Town Gas; and Eng. Mohamed Kandil, Chairman and Managing Director of Egypt Gas.
Discussions focused on exploring opportunities for cooperation in natural gas projects across Egypt, particularly in the areas of infrastructure modernization and the adoption of advanced measurement and control technologies. These efforts aim to enhance operational efficiency and support the continued development of the national gas grid.
The meeting also underscored the critical role of valves as essential components within safety systems. Emphasis was placed on the importance of high-quality design and manufacturing to ensure full compliance with international occupational health and safety standards. This contributes to minimizing operational risks, preventing gas leaks, and ensuring safe, reliable, and sustainable operations.
Both sides highlighted the importance of developing joint implementation frameworks with international partners to apply best-in-class engineering and operational practices, achieving the highest safety standards throughout all project phases—from design and execution to operation.
Additionally, Valvitalia Group presented its extensive experience in the Egyptian market through its involvement in key projects with GASCO, Petrobel, and UGDC, demonstrating its capability to meet technical requirements and comply with Egypt’s approved safety standards.
Eng. Sayed Selim affirmed EGAS’s commitment to leveraging the expertise and advanced technologies of specialized international partners to further enhance safety levels and operational efficiency, while supporting the state’s vision to develop the gas sector and position Egypt as a regional energy hub.
