During the Egypt Energy Conference (EGYPES - Egypt Energy Show 2025 held from February 17 to 19, 2025 Eng. Yassin Mohamed Executive Managing Director of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS), renewed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Romanian company “Transgaz”. Initially signed in October, this agreement aims to enhance cooperation in natural gas delivery activities. Additionally, Transgaz is exploring further investment opportunities in Egypt.
Notably, the Egyptian Natural Gas Distribution Company (Town Gas) has signed contracts for local manufacturing projects related to natural gas pressure reduction stations within Egypt. These agreements also cover natural gas delivery to homes and other facilities in Romania. Furthermore, Town Gas has been approved by the Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) as a contractor for natural gas delivery projects, making it the first Egyptian company to operate in this sector within Europe.
Engineer Yassin emphasized the importance of expediting project implementation, stating that cooperation with Romania represents a strategic partnership that reflects confidence in the expertise of Egyptian natural gas delivery companies and their skilled workforce. He also noted that several projects remain under study and require funding for execution. An agreement was reached to engage EGAS’s Planning and Projects Department to explore future investment opportunities. Additionally, he highlighted the strong collaborative relationships developed with Romanian partners, including Transgaz and SNGN Romgaz SA.
The meeting was attended by Engineer Mohamed Fathy, Chairman of Town Gas, and Engineer Khodair, Deputy of Planning and Projects at EGAS.
