Approval of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) Results for Fiscal Year 2024/2025
Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, emphasized the importance of seismic surveys, describing them as a key driver for attracting companies interested in working in Egypt’s oil and gas sector. These surveys provide comprehensive data on petroleum reservoirs, encouraging investment in exploration and development.
This came during the General Assembly meeting of EGAS to review and approve the company’s main natural gas activity results for the fiscal year 2024/2025, attended by senior petroleum sector officials, company executives, and representatives from the Central Auditing Organization.
The minister extended his appreciation to petroleum sector workers for their efforts in preparing port facilities to receive and anchor regasification vessels, modifying ships, and securing liquefied natural gas shipments to meet citizens’ needs—especially during the summer. He noted that the sector succeeded in saving approximately *$3.5 billion* in import costs.
He stressed that while these measures are vital, they are part of an exceptional plan to secure supplies. The primary goal remains increasing domestic production through intensified exploration and new discoveries. He also highlighted the importance of coordination between gas distribution companies and relevant authorities to ensure continued application of safety procedures during gas delivery to homes and factories.
For his part, Engineer Mahmoud Abdel Hamid, EGAS’s Executive Managing Director, presented key performance indicators for the year’s natural gas activities. He noted:
