Eng. Karim Badawi, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and his Jordanian counterpart, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement in Cairo. The agreement aims at optimizing the economic use of Egypt’s infrastructure for receiving imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) to support Jordan’s energy needs.
The agreement was signed by Eng. Yassin Mohamed, executive managing director of EGAS, and Dr. Sufian Bataineh, Director General of the Jordanian National Electric Power Company, in the presence of Eng. Moataz Atef, Undersecretary of the Ministry for the Technical Office and ministry’s spokesperson.
Following the signing, Eng. Badawi stated that the agreement aligns the commitment of both brotherly countries to continuous integration in the natural gas sector to secure supplies and achieve mutual benefits by optimizing the use of existing infrastructure, which serves as the cornerstone of this cooperation and integration, delivering benefits to both sides. He also extended his gratitude to the teams from both sides, represented by the Ministries of Petroleum and Energy, the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company, and the Jordanian National Electric Power Company, for their efforts in finalizing the agreement.
