Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, visited the “Stena_Forth” drillship, where Chevron has initiated its exploration activities in Egypt’s West Mediterranean region by drilling of the “Khanjar-1” well on the North_El_Dabaa block.
Eng. Badawi was accompanied by Mr. Kristian Svendsen, Chevron’s Country Manager, along with Eng. Yassin Mohamed Executive managing director for EGAS and Eng. Moataz Atef, Undersecretary of the Ministry for the Technical Office and ministry’s spokesperson.
During the visit, his Excellency reviewed the ongoing drilling activities at the new gas exploration well, which commenced this month as part of the petroleum sector’s strategic plan to intensify exploration and drilling efforts. These efforts aim to uncover new gas reserves in high-potential areas such as the Western Mediterranean. He met with Chevron’s team, emphasizing the need to accelerate drilling operations and highlighting the collaboration between the petroleum sector and Chevron as a promising opportunity to tap into the Mediterranean’s vast energy resources, benefiting Egypt’s economy.
