The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) is a pivotal entity in Egypt's oil and gas sector, established in August 2001 with a primary focus on the development, exploration, and distribution of natural gas in Egypt.

Zohr
Discovery of the Zohr Gas Field
A major turning point for EGAS was the discovery of the Zohr gas field in the Mediterranean Sea in 2015, one of the largest natural gas finds in the region. EGAS played a pivotal role in the fast-tracking of the development and production of Zohr, which brought the field online in record time, less than three years after its discovery. This rapid development was made possible through a strategic partnership with international oil companies, notably the Italian energy giant Eni, and a strong commitment from EGAS to overcome technical and logistical challenges.
